News Updates

"Internet Broadcasting has arrived and will change everything, viewers will eventually turn on a screen and choose what to watch, it might be their favorite network drama or a musical performance from the local Arts Centre, they will not even notice if it is cable TV or Internet, the media will simply converge to the device they are viewing with."

April 1, 2010

(Delta, BC) Technology company PlayFullScreen has been awarded the exclusive Internet Broadcast (streaming webcast) contract for two of the largest Junior Hockey Championship Series. The Keystone Cup which will be played in Kamloops, BC and the Cyclone Taylor Cup which will be played in Parksville, BC. Both will be broadcast live on the Internet. Friends and family from across the country that cannot make the trek to the arenas in BC will still be able to follow every second of live action. PlayFullScreen a company founded and run by Internet Broadcast innovator, Dave McIlroy, will be providing the technical know how and support behind the scenes. "We have been preparing for about a month now," said McIlroy. "The hosts of the championships have shown great confidence in our ability and we will deliver a first class event for them."

PlayFullScreen has developed a service called SelfCaster. With SelfCaster, anyone can become their own media company. Sports, Arts and Entertainment, Educational, Government etc. can broadcast live on the Internet, save that event for archive viewing and publish everything to their web site, blog or social network pages all with a simple click of the mouse. This technology is being used for the Keystone Cup and Cyclone Taylor Cup. Dave McIlroy says, "We have been watching a major shift in video streaming and have made significant strides toward adopting new innovations such as HTML5. While many streaming media companies have invested heavily in Flash (the video type made popular by YouTube), we have developed ahead of the curve to ensure that SelfCaster will play on all three screens, TV, Desktop and Mobile. Internet Broadcasting has arrived and will change everything, viewers will eventually turn on a screen and choose what to watch, it might be their favorite network drama or a musical performance from the local Arts Centre, they will not even notice if it is cable TV or Internet, the media will simply converge to the device they are viewing with."

Some of these newest innovations will be premiered during the Championship series.

The Cyclone Taylor Cup begins April 1st at 3:30 pm Pacific time and concludes April 4th with the Bronze and Gold medal games. The Keystone Cup runs April 15 - 18.
