Thursday, January 14, 2010

The 2010 Major Midget League All Star Game is set for Friday, January 15, 2010 in Kelowna at the Memorial Arena with puck drop at 7:15 pm. The top 40 players in the league will come together to participate in the game.

The All Star Game will be webcast on the BC Hockey and Major Midget League website. The webcast will get underway just after 7:00 pm. The game will be webcasted by PlayFullScreen. The link to view live will appear just before game time at this link

PlayFullScreen is about empowering teams and leagues to become their own media broadcast companies. By introducing web based tools that anyone can work with, sports teams and leagues can create live and archived Internet broadcasts, make these available to an audience as a free offering or as a Pay per View and deliver it to all three screens, TV, Computer and Mobile. Most importantly, PlayFullScreen ensures that the teams and leagues maintain rights and control of their broadcast asset.

Some notable Major Midget League graduates who have competed in the All Star Game include:
Colten Teubert – Regina Pats (WHL)/Los Angeles Kings (NHL) – 2006
Martin Jones – Calgary Hitmen (WHL)/LA Kings (NHL) – 2006
Stefan Elliott – Saskatoon Blades (WHL)/Colorado Avalanche (NHL) – 2007
Evander Kane – Atlanta Thrashers (NHL) – 2007
Landon Ferraro – Red Deer Rebels (WHL)/Detroit Red Wings (NHL) – 2008
Jordan Weal – Regina Pats (WHL) – 2008
Brett Connolly – Prince George Cougars (WHL) – 2008
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – Red Deer Rebels (WHL) – 2009

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
